Monopteros
Tempelbergstraße, Lehel, Altstadt-Lehel, München, Bayern, 80538, Deutschland, Munich, Germany
The Monopteros im Englischen Garten is one of the most popular and rewarding spots in Munich for a photoshoot. Here are some essential tips for lighting, compositions, and timing to help you plan:
Optimal Timing & Avoiding Crowds
The Challenge: Because it is a central viewpoint, the hill and the temple get very crowded on warm afternoons and pleasant summer weekends. People will be sitting on the steps, leaning against columns, and relaxing on the grass below, making clean wide shots difficult.
Sunrise/Early Morning (Best for Clean Shots): If you want the temple completely to yourself for portraiture, high-fashion, or architectural shots, arrive at sunrise. The morning light hits the front of the temple beautifully, and you will share the space only with occasional joggers and early-morning fog.
Golden Hour & Sunset (Best for Atmosphere): The late afternoon sun blankets the hill in warm, golden light. It is incredibly romantic and ideal for engagement or lifestyle shoots, though you will have to work around other visitors.
The Vibe:
Romantic, scenic, classic, golden-hour glow.
Best For:
Engagement, couples, portraits, fashion and lifestyle sessions.
